Do you love to cook? Are you passionate about food? We are seeking a Prep Cook to join the team at the incredibly special Brigadoon Village in Alyesdord, NS.

Brigadoon Village is a non-profit recreational facility that delivers year-round camp programming to transform the lives of Atlantic Canadian children and youth living with health conditions and other challenges. We help them reach their full potential through experiential learning, meaningful connections, and exceptional fun.

Position Details

This is a casual position with full-time hours in the Spring and Summer. During winter months, the position shifts to casual, on-call work, returning to full-time in Spring and Summer. The starting wage for this position is $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist the culinary team in preparing a variety of foods according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  2. Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
  3. Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling.
  4. Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  5. Properly store food following food safety policies and procedures.
  6. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  7. Maintain excellent customer service and a positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers.
  8. Follow Aramark safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation standards.
Qualifications
  • 1 year of culinary experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

This role may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking or standing. Uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
