Qualifications

• At least five years of experience with automation control systems and roll-forming equipment.
• Previous field service or related experience.
• Strong technical background with advanced troubleshooting abilities.
• Education or training as an Electrician, Millwright, Tool and Die professional, Engineer or Engineering Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex automation control system issues.
• Work with customers to identify problems and implement solutions.
• Programme automation control systems and test/commission equipment.
• Install, repair and maintain equipment at customer sites.
• Train customers on automation systems and equipment.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow safety requirements.

Job description

Our client is a leading manufacturer of custom automated machinery and industrial equipment and they are currently searching for an Controls Field Testing Technician.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced controls professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex automation systems, working directly with customers and travelling to client sites to support industrial equipment installations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing onsite and remote technical support to customers in the metal roll-forming industry
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing complex automation control system and equipment issues
• Working directly with customers to identify problems and implement effective solutions
• Assisting with the programming of automation control systems
• Testing and commissioning roll-forming equipment
• Performing equipment installations, repairs and maintenance at customer locations
• Training customers on automation control systems and roll-forming equipment
• Providing internal training on equipment assembly, setup, testing and operation
• Developing and maintaining technical documentation
• Following all company and customer safety requirements while working onsite

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least five years of experience with automation control systems and roll-forming equipment
• Previous field service or related experience
• A strong technical background with advanced troubleshooting abilities
• Education or training as an Electrician, Millwright, Tool and Die professional, Engineer or Engineering Technologist
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• A valid driver’s licence and passport
• The ability to travel internationally, including to the United States, without restriction
• The ability to operate material‑handling equipment, including forklifts and cranes
• The ability to stand and walk for most of the day while working in an industrial manufacturing environment

This position requires extensive travel—approximately three out of every four weeks—including overnight stays and extended trips.
