A leading company in materials science seeks a Controls Engineer to support maintenance and improvement projects. The role involves troubleshooting PLC systems and contributing to continuous improvement in a dynamic production environment. Activities and duties may vary depending on site-specific needs and daily work assignments. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the maintenance team with daily troubleshooting and repair of electrical, control, and communication systems in a 24x7 production environment. Systems include:
PLC systems including AB PLC5s, SLC500s, and Logix families (Micro, Compact, Control)
AB PanelView HMI and Wonderware SCADA systems
Various communication protocols including fiber optic and ethernet systems
480V electrical systems, including coordinated AC and DC drive systems(Parker SSD, Siemens S/G120)
120VAC and 24VDC control systems with industrial field devices
Leading and contributing to continuous improvement projects to help the plant achieve its safety, quality, service, and cost goals.
Support the capital improvement plan by planning, completing, and/or approving project deliverables.
The position will be tasked with working with and training other members of the maintenance team, driving root cause analysis, and improving technical documentation.

Technical degree in a field related to automation and controls engineering from an accredited university
2+ Years of experience incontrols engineering within a manufacturing environment, includingtroubleshooting control, communication, and electrical hardware systems including drives
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs,and associated software
Familiarity with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams in the Autodesk ecosystem
Preferred, but not required
Experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley drives, especially coordinated drive systems
Experience with Parker Eurotherm drives is a plus
Experience working on capital project team
Experience with project management is a plus
Experience with Wonderware Process Historian and SCADA systems
