Job summary

Supreme Motors in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a Finance Controller to lead all dealership accounting operations, ensure accurate reporting, and drive improvements across the finance function.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in automotive accounting leadership, strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, proficiency with PBS or similar AMS, and excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills. This full-time, on-site role offers a competitive package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within an automotive dealership environment.
  • Experience as a Dealership Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership accounting processes, including vehicle sales, inventory, floorplan accounting, and manufacturer reporting.
  • Experience with dealership management systems (PBS preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all dealership accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, vehicle accounting, and general ledger functions.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and dealership performance reports.
  • Ensure accurate posting and reconciliation of vehicle sales, leases, finance reserves, commissions, and manufacturer programs.
  • Review and maintain dealership schedules, including floorplan, prepaid expenses, accruals, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and working capital requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, manufacturers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Analyze dealership profitability and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, dealership agreements, and reporting requirements.

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the dealership, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and timely completion of accounting processes.
