Job summary

Sunwest Aviation Ltd. in Calgary seeks a Controller / Planner to oversee maintenance scheduling and planning. You will track activities, prepare work packages, and coordinate tasks to meet regulatory and MSA schedules.

The role requires Transport Canada AME license (M1/M2), supervisory experience, and strong organizational skills. Competitive salary and benefits are provided in a full-time, weekday schedule.

Qualifications

  • AME license (M1/M2) required by Transport Canada.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or management experience.
  • Familiar with Canadian Aviation Regulations and airworthiness directives.
  • Ability to maintain an Access Card for restricted airside access.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain tracking, planning, and recording of maintenance activities compliant with Transport Canada regulations.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance tasks to fit the Maintenance Schedule approvals.
  • Review maintenance tracking systems (CAMP, WinAir) and liaise with Production and Program Manager.
  • Oversee building of aircraft work packages and inspection check sheets.
  • Prepare labour invoicing and manage service bulletins/ADs.

We currently have an opportunity available for a Controller / Planner. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, this position is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the tracking, planning, and recording of maintenance activities in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and company approved manuals. Make entries in aircraft journey logs and technical logs.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance tasks to ensure that they are completed within the time allotted in the Maintenance Schedule Approval as stated in the MCM. (AD’s, S/B’s, Inspections, Modifications, Overhauls, Project Maintenance and etc.)
  • Review Maintenance Tracking (CAMP; WinAir) and liaise with the Production and Program Manager.
  • Oversee the building of aircraft work packages and maintain aircraft inspection check sheets.
  • Preparation of labour invoicing.
  • Process, review and track required service bulletins and airworthiness directives.
  • Control and maintain the calibrated tool program with designates.
  • Investigate and correct Maintenance Audit Findings and Safety reports where applicable to this department.
  • Review maintenance manual revisions to ensure MSA and Tracking system remain current.
  • Maintain and update Maintenance Schedule Approvals.
  • Direct supervision and mentoring of the planning and technical records personnel.
  • Other related duties as required.

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and competencies. In addition personality profiling will be required of all candidates granted an interview for this position.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
  • Transport Canada AME License category M1 and M2.
  • Ability to maintain a Restricted Airside Identification Card.
  • Previous Maintenance scheduling and tracking management experience preferred
  • Familiar with the rules and regulations found in the Canadian Aviation Regulations, as well as various aircraft manufacturer's Instruction for Continued Airworthiness.
  • Minimum 2 years prior supervisory or management experience is required.
  • Strong leadership experience and hands-on management style
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to multi-task and be flexible to take on varied
    responsibilities
  • Must have strong organization, planning and execution skills
  • Decisive decision-making, problem-solving abilities and sound judgment
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and cope effectively with stressful situations

Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Sunwest’s Safety Management System manual
