Clark Wilson LLP in Vancouver seeks a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting, reporting to the Director of Finance. You will guide the Accounting team, ensure accuracy and timeliness, and support trust accounting compliance and reporting.

Qualifications

• A recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA or CMA).
• Experience in a mid-sized law firm or professional services firm.
• Experience with trust accounting procedures in a professional environment.
• Proficiency with Excel.
• Experience with Aderant software is an asset.
• Excellent communication and a collaborative approach.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines.
• Ability to build credibility and develop relationships with firm stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the firm’s day-to-day accounting operations.
• Providing supervisory guidance to the accounting team.
• Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting with meaningful analyses.
• Overseeing trust accounting processes and compliance with Society rules.
• Coordinating annual Trust Report and audits.
• Providing financial information to colleagues across the Firm.
• Collaborating with external parties (accountants, banks, consultants).
• Leading financial systems improvements and automation initiatives.
• Undertaking accounting/finance projects and governance tasks.
• Providing backup coverage for accounting functions.
