Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is seeking a driven Controller for a construction client in Canada. Hybrid in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, you will lead finance operations, manage a three-person team, and drive financial strategy and controls across month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.

You will oversee accounts payable, approve payments, and partner with senior leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow. Experience with construction ERP transitions (Sage, Timberline, Jonas) is highly valued.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• 7+ years in accounting/finance.
• 3+ years managing a team.
• Strong construction experience, including holdbacks.
• Experience with construction ERPs like Sage, Timberline, or Jonas.

Our construction client is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Controller to lead their finance operations and manage a team of three. This role offers the chance to expand your expertise, gain hands‑on experience with significant ERP transitions, and work directly with the leader of the finance department. You will be instrumental in overseeing accounts payable, approving payments, and managing all month-end, year-end, and quarter-end processes, including financial reporting.
