Harbinger Network Inc. in Cambridge, Ontario, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead the finance function and drive the organization’s financial health and growth.

This onsite role reports to the President and requires building a high-performing finance team and delivering insightful financial analysis. The ideal candidate will guide budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance while optimizing cash flow and project funding.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
• Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of Canadian tax laws and financial compliance standards.

Responsabilités

• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Manage project accounting and WSIB accounts handling.
• Design and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risk.
• Oversee financial systems and tools and drive process improvements.
• Optimize cash flow and working capital management, including debt facilities and lines of credit.

Harbinger has partnered with a Industry leader in ICI Construction. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead our finance function and contribute to the overall financial health and growth of the organization. This role will play a key part in financial leadership, operational execution, and team development. This role is onsite, at the head office in KW-Cambridge. Reports directly to the President

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement financial strategies that align with organizational goals and drive long-term success.
• Deliver actionable financial insights and analysis to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.

Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing finance team.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and engaging team culture to drive continuous improvement and professional development.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements and management reports.

Accounting Operations

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and project accounting.
• Oversee outstanding AR collections and ensure proper handling of WSIB accounts.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with all tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
• Design and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risk.
• Manage financial risk exposures, including insurance coverage and bonding.

Systems Management

• Oversee financial systems and tools (e.g., Sage 300, TimberScan, Procore).
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements to support financial accuracy and efficiency.

Treasury & Funding

• Optimize cash flow and working capital management.
• Oversee debt facilities, lines of credit, and cash reserves to support project funding and organizational needs.

Special Projects

• Partner with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and special projects.
• Contribute financial expertise to support growth, innovation, and operational improvements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably in [industry, e.g., construction, real estate, etc.].
• Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of Canadian tax laws and financial compliance standards.
