Job summary

IT International Telecom Inc. in Pointe-Claire, QC is seeking a Legal Counsel to support contracting and commercial matters for submarine cable projects worldwide.

You will draft, review and negotiate contracts, identify risks and ensure compliance with scope of work. The ideal candidate holds a law degree, is licensed to practice in Canada or the US, and has 2–3 years of drafting or negotiating experience, with strong English and French communication skills and proficiency in Office 365,

Qualifications

  • Law Degree from a recognized academic institution.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in a Canadian or American jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 2–3 years in contract drafting and/or negotiating.
  • Ability to draft, read, comprehend and interpret contracts and/or contractual documents.
  • Excellent English and French communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Office 365 experience including SharePoint and OneDrive.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and negotiation of various contracts.
  • Assist in identifying and tendering required subcontractors and suppliers for projects.
  • Draft contracts and related documents.
  • Interpret contracts and ensure compliance with contract terms and the scope of work.
  • Identify and analyze contractual risks and formulate recommendations.
  • Prepare and issue letters/memoranda regarding commercial/contractual matters.
  • Analyze rationale for contract changes/claims and mitigation strategies.
