Job summary

School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay) is seeking a Contract Teacher Teaching on Call for Grades K-10 at Jaffray Elementary/Junior Secondary School.

This 0.50 FTE temporary assignment runs from October 23, 2026 to June 25, 2027, with daily site-based duties and priority scheduling by the Human Resources Department. Applicants must hold BC Teacher Certification or equivalent and have a degree or formal training, with teaching experience in elementary or middle school levels.

Salary Range

The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $35,196 to $59,593, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary

Contract Teacher Teaching on Call, Grades K-10

0.50 FTE temporary contract, starting October 23, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process to June 25, 2027, or return of the incumbent.

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience at the Elementary or Middle School level. It would be considered an asset to have a degree/diploma or certification in Learning Services/Inclusive Education.

This position will be utilized in order of priority to support Jaffray Elementary/Junior Secondary School and is scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Work will be assigned daily by the Human Resources Department. Please note that all work will be on site.

Please note

Continuing teachers will need to vacate their continuing assignment in order to accept a temporary assignment, unless the FTE is greater in the temporary job posting.
