Job description

EXP’s Ottawa office is seeking a Contract Administrator to join our team and lead the construction phase on various municipal and industrial/building projects.

Your work environment at EXP

  • Monitor compliance with quality and quantity control measures and contractual obligations between EXP and the client.
  • Proven ability to read drawings for municipal, industrial, and building projects.
  • Prepare various internal reports, correspondences, and status reports for assigned projects.
  • Monitor project budget, expenses, payment terms, and other financial obligations.
  • Review contractor submissions (critical path schedules, change proposals, etc.) for compliance with contractual obligations and advise the client and contractor accordingly.
  • Negotiate change orders, pricing issues, and construction claims.
  • Prepare agendas, attend meetings, and take minutes.
  • Review quantities for payments, coordinate with field staff, and process contractor payments.
  • Coordinate the review of shop drawings.
  • Confirm the qualifications and certifications of all contractor employees, resources, and equipment.
  • Review environmental and traffic control plans and report any discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards, building codes, Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications/Drawings (OPSS/OPSDs), and related methods and materials.
  • Conduct site inspections as needed and report daily on contractor’s work compliance with standards, OHSA, and other laws.
  • Provide updates and reports to the project manager and supervisor.

What your experience looks like

  • At least 4+ years of experience focusing on the construction phase of municipal, building, and industrial projects.
  • P.Eng. or CET designation is required, along with similar project experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong technical, industrial, and building knowledge, with a good understanding of codes and construction practices.
  • Positive attitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with co-workers, clients, contractors, and authorities.
  • Some travel may be required.
