Job summary

MNP in Hamilton, Ontario seeks an insolvency services assistant to support planning, data analysis, and administration of formal insolvency appointments. You will build relationships with referral sources and prepare essential BIA documents while maintaining quality control and finding value for debtors.

The role offers exposure to consumer insolvency projects, with travel as needed, and opportunities to advance through insolvency training and CIRP designation potential within a supportive team

Qualifications

  • Experience in insolvency is asset but not required.
  • Experience as a financial advisor is asset.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field is asset.
  • Completion of Insolvency Administration course or BIA Insolvency Counselor course is asset.
  • Willingness to work towards a CIRP designation is asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act is expected or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review BIA documentation including Statements of Affairs, 170 Reports, Court Orders and Affidavits, Certificates of Discharge, and related reports.
  • Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to debtors; ensure debtor needs are met.
  • Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate issues or risks.
  • Contribute to development of new ideas to improve work processes.
  • Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.

  • Prepare and review all relevant BIA documentation including Statements of Affairs, 170 Reports, Court Orders and Affidavits, Certificates of Discharge, Trustee’s Supplementary Reports to Court, Pre and Post Bankruptcy Tax Returns, Final Statements of Receipts and Disbursements, etc.
  • Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to debtors; ensure debtor needs are met
  • Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues or key risks relevant to the debtor
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills And Experience
  • Direct experience in Insolvency is not required but considered an asset
  • Experience as a Financial Advisor considered an asset
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset
  • Completion of the Insolvency Administration course and/or BIA Insolvency Counselor course an asset.
  • Willingness to work towards a CIRP designation is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
