Job summary

MNP is seeking a Consultant to join its Corporate Insolvency team. You will assist with insolvency engagements, model financial scenarios, and help navigate restructurings for lenders and debtors in Canada.

You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver value to clients, while progressing toward CIRP designation and leveraging CPA credentials as an asset. The role emphasizes collaboration, client service, and contributing to proposals and business development within a leading national

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required for role.
  • Willingness to pursue CIRP designation if not yet attained.
  • 1–3 years of insolvency experience preferred; other professional services experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with delivery of corporate insolvency services, identifying strategic, operational and financial challenges; provide stabilization activities and support debt restructuring or recovery needs.
  • Analyze data, review accounting records and develop financial models.
  • Participate in formal and informal restructurings and administer insolvency appointments (bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships, CC AAs, liquidations).
  • Develop relationships with special loan financiers, insolvency lawyers and business executives.
  • Assist with preparing statutory documentation under BIA, CCAA, Wind-Up Acts, and related legislation.
  • Identify innovative ways to deliver value to stakeholders and meet their needs.
  • Support business development and delivery of competitive proposals.
  • Collaborate with engagement teams.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the delivery of corporate insolvency services including identifying the strategic, operational and financial challenges of a business, recommending immediate stabilizing activities, providing operational and performance improvement advice and addressing debt restructuring, refinancing or recovery needs
  • Assist with data analysis, review of accounting records and the development of financial models
  • Participate in formal and informal restructurings and administer formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships, CCAAs, liquidations, etc.
  • Develop relationships with special loan financiers, insolvency lawyers, business executives, etc.
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing all relevant statutory documentation associated with BIA, CCAA, Wind-Up Acts, Business Corporation Acts, etc.
  • Assist with identifying innovative ways to deliver added value to stakeholders; ensure stakeholders’ needs are met
  • Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals
  • Work collaboratively with the engagement team
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Working towards, or willingness to work towards, a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) designation
  • 1-3 years of insolvency experience is preferred; professional services experience outside of insolvency will also be considered
  • Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset
