Job summary

Neelands Group Limited in Burlington, Ontario is seeking a Construction Refrigeration 313A Apprentice (Term 3) to join our team. This is a full-time union position with a comprehensive compensation package and benefits.

You will measure, assemble, and install commercial refrigeration systems, read blueprints, and support journeypersons in installation and startup tasks while maintaining safety and quality on the job site.

Qualifications

• Registered 3rd year refrigeration apprentice.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on refrigeration installation experience in supermarket or commercial settings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Valid G license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Familiarity with CO2 refrigeration systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure and layout plan for refrigeration system installation.
• Assemble and install commercial refrigeration or cold storage units (walk-ins, racks).
• Install refrigeration lines and read blueprints.
• Measure, cut, and connect pipe using welding/brazing equipment.
• Assist in commissioning and startup of refrigeration systems.
• Ensure materials are available on site.
• Handle, store, and charge refrigerants safely per regulations.
• Perform pressure tests to check for leaks.
• Repair/alter pressure systems if leaks/damage found.
• Maintain a clean, safe worksite and follow health and safety protocols.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues.
• Support journeypersons in installation tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Position:

Neelands Group Limited is searching for a Construction Refrigeration 313A Apprentice (Term 3) to join our team at the Burlington, Ontario location. This is a regular, full-time union position with a full union compensation package.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately measure and layout plan for refrigeration system installation in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Assemble and install commercial refrigeration or cold storage units, including walk-in coolers/freezers and rack systems.
• Installation of refrigeration lines
• Carefully read and interpret blueprints to ensure proper specifications
• Measure, cut, and connect pipe to components and refrigeration systems using welding and brazing equipment
• Assist in the commissioning and start-up of refrigeration systems.
• Ensure the necessary materials required for the project are on hand and readily available
• Handle, store, recover, and charge refrigerants safely in accordance with environmental and safety regulations
• Safely perform pressure test once pipework is complete to test for leaks
• Repair and alter pressure system if leak or damage is found
• Maintain a clean and organized worksite, adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues (mechanical and electrical) under guidance or independently.
• Support journeypersons in various installation and commissioning tasks.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Registered 3rd year refrigeration apprentice
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in supermarket or commercial refrigeration installation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Valid G license with a clean driver abstract
• Ability to travel when required
• Familiarity with CO₂ refrigeration systems is considered an asset.
