Job summary

Major Refrigeration is seeking an HVAC Apprentice to diagnose, service, and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units across multiple sites in Nova Scotia. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and strong customer communication, supporting commercial and industrial service needs.

Requirements include a 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Apprenticeship, at least 2 years of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record. ODP certification is required.

Qualifications

• 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Apprentice.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Refrigeration/HVAC experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• ODP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Read and interpret HVAC/R schematics and blueprints.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and team-oriented attitude.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with codes and company standards and legislation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $95,000.00 Annually

The Position

We are currently seeking a skilled HVAC Apprentice to join our growing team. Open positions focus on commercial and industrial refrigeration service, maintenance, and troubleshooting across multiple sites throughout the Nova Scotiaarea.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Strong diagnose, troubleshoot, service and repair refrigeration equipment and rooftop units
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC/R schematics and blueprints
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and team-oriented attitude
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with codes and company standards and legislation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Apprentice
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Refrigeration/HVAC experience
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with gas heating, refrigeration systems, and airflow principles
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls
• Willing and able to work overtime, as required
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
• ODP certification required
