Job summary

Novacom Building Partners in Calgary is seeking a Project Manager to lead growth in the market and guide our local team. You will drive client relationships and manage project startup, documentation, budgeting, and subcontractor coordination.

The role requires an entrepreneurial spirit, strong leadership, and a track record in commercial construction. Travel across Alberta for site meetings and client interfaces is expected, with a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in the commercial construction field as PM/Senior PM.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing.
  • Post-secondary technical education in construction or a related program.
  • Excellent relationship and communication skills with clients and team.

Responsibilities

  • Network and build relationships with Calgary clients and consultants.
  • Lead the internal project team, including Site Superintendents and Project Coordinators.
  • Project startup: issue contracts, request insurance and bonds, WCB notices.
  • Use Procore and other software to manage labour, materials, costs, and schedules.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to mitigate issues.
  • Collaborate with Site Superintendent to deliver a quality product on time and budget.
  • Meet with architects, consultants and clients to resolve project issues and maintain relationships.
  • Monitor and report on the project budget and cost control.
  • Prepare and review monthly progress claims and supplier invoices.

Novacom is opening a new Calgary office to build on and leverage our National client relationships. We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead our growth in the Calgary market, and take a leadership role with our local team and a key relationship building role with local client representatives. This person should have an entrepreneurial spirit, and be excited about the opportunity to build Novacom’s brand in Calgary.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the commercial construction field in a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager capacity
  • Construction knowledge – overall understanding of construction process, sequencing, etc.
  • Post-secondary, technical education (BCIT) or similar in a construction or industry-related program
Responsibilities:
  • Networking / Relationship Building – take initiative and join company leadership in building new relationships in the Calgary market, both with existing Novacom clients and new relationships.
  • Team Leadership – lead our internal project team, including Site Superintendents and Project Co-ordinators.
  • Project Startup — issuing contracts, requesting insurance and bonds, WCB notices, etc.
  • Project Documentation — using Procore and other software platforms to manage labour, materials, and equipment, cost coding, submittals, schedules, meeting minutes, change orders, etc.
  • Subtrade/Supplier Management — ability to manage construction subtrades and suppliers, and mitigate issues that may arise in the course of a project
  • Site Superintendent Interface — ability to work in partnership with Site Superintendent to deliver a high quality finished product while managing the schedule and budget
  • Client Interface — meeting with architects, consultants, and clients to manage project issues and maintain positive working relationships
  • Budget Management — continuous monitoring and management of project budget, ability to minimize project costs through inventive methods and regular financial reporting to management
  • Invoicing — preparation of monthly progress claims, review and approval of subtrade and supplier invoices
