Construction Project Accountant – Real Estate Development

Job summary

SSA Recruitment Canada is assisting a leading residential and commercial developer in Metro Vancouver to hire a Project Accountant who will oversee day-to-day accounting across multiple active development projects. This includes budgeting, job costing, draws and financial reporting, collaborating with the Director of Finance and project teams.

We seek 2–5 years of accounting experience in real estate or construction, a degree in Accounting/Finance/Business, and CPA progression is a plus;

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate development, homebuilding or construction.
• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset.
• Understanding of job costing and construction draws.
• Experience with Yardi, Sage 300, Jonas, Acumatica or similar systems is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project budgets, job costing and forecast.
• Process construction draws, holdbacks and lender reporting.
• Review and code project invoices and manage AP.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analysis and cash flow forecast.
• Support month-end and year-end close, accruals and journal entries.
• Track GST/HST, lien holdbacks and progress billing.
• Work with project teams to review budget-to-actual variances.
• Support lender compliance, year-end reporting and financial analysis.
