Job summary

Sureway Construction Group of Companies is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join our Edmonton team. This role covers full-cycle payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance across unionized environments.

You will handle bi-weekly payroll runs, manage two collective bargaining agreements, and ensure accurate reporting in a fast-paced construction setting. The ideal candidate has PCP designation, 5+ years in payroll, and solid Excel skills, with deep knowledge of Alberta standards

Qualifications

• Five+ years’ experience in full cycle payroll.
• Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
• Experience in a unionized payroll environment is an asset.
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required.
• Completion of post‑secondary education in Accounting or Business is an asset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent knowledge of payroll principles and practices.
• Familiarity with Service Canada processes and procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of income tax forms (T4s, ROEs, etc.), health benefits, RRSP, pensions, and WCB.
• Knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
• High attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle hourly payroll for bi-weekly pay runs.
• Manage two Collective Bargaining Agreements within the payroll system.
• Reconcile account balances for reporting and policy compliance.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in time sheets and leave time before processing.
• Answer payroll questions for managers and staff.
• Stay current with payroll legislation and implement changes as needed.
• Manage government remittances and prepare summaries and reports.
• Year-end T4 balancing and reporting.
