Job Description

BEUMER Group Canada is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning of materials handling machinery for a major mining project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the site construction, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the construction process for mining projects, including the installation of materials handling systems and bulk handling equipment.
  • Oversee project scheduling, budget management, and resource allocation to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure project goals are met and any issues are resolved promptly.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant construction methods, safety standards, and health and safety regulations, fostering a culture of safety on-site.
  • Supervise and mentor construction teams, promoting leadership, problem-solving, and effective decision-making to drive project success.
  • Manage projects under both Time & Material and Lump Sum contracts, ensuring appropriate cost control and contractual compliance.
  • Coordinate and ensure the smooth commissioning of large-scale materials handling systems.
Qualifications

Key Requirements and Professional Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (preferred), or related field technical diploma with 10 years experience in construction management of mining projects.
  • Experience in the installation of materials handling systems, including conveyors, and bulk handling equipment.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Experience with managing Clients and Subcontractors on Time and Material as well as Lump Sum contracts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, and decision making. The Construction Manager will be required to manage and collaborate with multi-nationalities within the project teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders. The Construction Manager will be the primary point of contact to our clients on the construction site.
  • Familiarity with mining operations and heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience in commissioning large scale materials handling systems.
  • National Construction Safety Training such (NCSO) certification is a plus.
  • Contract Role: May to December 2025
