Job Summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an opening for a full-time Construction Manager/Owner’s Representative. You will work closely with AKS Lead Construction Managers, Project Managers, and the design and construction teams. Your role will involve providing construction management to ensure infrastructure and development projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to plans and specifications. You may supervise inspectors, conduct inspections, review team deliverables, and collaborate with construction managers to manage inspector workload. Additionally, you will assist with project feasibility estimates, permitting, constructability reviews, value engineering, engineer’s estimates, procurement, and contract negotiations.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum of 4+ years of experience in the construction/engineering industry.
• BS or AS degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Current driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Understanding of construction methods, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Experience working on challenging worksites and navigating difficult conditions.
• Ability to make quick, strategic decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with construction cost estimating.
• Strong communication, leadership, and attention to detail skills.
• Knowledge of construction management tasks, sequencing, and safety protocols.
• Reputation in the local civil marketplace.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Lead Construction Manager, responsibilities include:

• Managing construction issues and working with the Construction/Project Manager.
• Representing AKS with contractors, municipal agents, and clients; establishing good relationships.
• Negotiating contracts, permits, and licenses.
• Preparing and negotiating cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
• Managing budgets and coordinating with contractors and the project team.
• Obtaining permits and preparing reports on project progress, schedules, and costs.
• Documenting changes, planning strategies, handling delays, and resolving issues.
• Monitoring schedule performance and investigating performance issues.
• Discussing and resolving work-related matters with stakeholders.
• Managing risks and inspecting construction work for compliance.
• Creating safety protocols and reviewing contractor activities.
• Verifying contractor billing and managing project closeout.
• Handling warranty releases and completing additional assignments as needed.
