Job Opening: Construction Management Position in Vancouver, WA

AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) is seeking a full-time team member for our construction management division in Vancouver, Washington. You will collaborate closely with the construction manager, project managers, and the entire design and construction team.

Your responsibilities will include providing quantity take-offs, cost estimates during project feasibility, and construction management support to ensure projects meet schedule, budget, plans, and specifications. During design phases, you will conduct constructability reviews and prepare detailed engineer’s estimates.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record; ability to insure an AKS vehicle.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, interpreting contracts, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to navigate challenging work sites, including in adverse weather and on uneven ground.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, project tracking checklists, and comfort with office tasks such as document editing, spreadsheets, and emails.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong planning skills and the ability to see the big picture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented.
Job Functions & Responsibilities

Working with the Construction Manager, your tasks will include:

  • Managing construction issues directly or with the project manager.
  • Representing AKS with contractors, municipal agents, and clients to foster good relationships.
  • Preparing and reviewing budgets, schedules, and constructability assessments.
  • Managing budgets and communicating with contractors, subcontractors, and owners.
  • Coordinating utility services and communications.
  • Reporting on project progress, schedules, and costs to internal teams and clients.
  • Documenting changes to specifications, scope, and drawings.
  • Analyzing and mitigating project risks.
  • Inspecting and documenting construction progress to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Reviewing contractor billing and verifying quantities.
  • Completing projects and special assignments as needed.
