Job description

Job Title: Construction Foreman

Join our team as a Construction Foreman, where you'll work on a diverse range of commercial and institutional projects. You will initially be assigned to projects in High Level or Grande Prairie. This role involves a balanced mix of hands-on carpentry tasks and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring a dynamic and engaging work environment.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a Record check and have a clean driver's addendum.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in site tailgate/safety meetings and conduct site walkthroughs to ensure project readiness.
  • Assist with carpentry tasks during project initiation and address deficiency work at project completion.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control checks with different subcontractors.
  • Plan material take-offs and ensure adequate fuel levels and material allocation.
  • Assist with purchase orders and manage receipts for purchases.
  • Approve timecards for employees daily.
  • Engage in daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings and reporting with the site superintendent to track project progress.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in construction supervision and carpentry.
  • At least 1 year of experience with a general contractor on commercial, institutional, or industrial projects.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, email communication, and PDF usage.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to coach, lead, and communicate respectfully.
  • Physical capability to bend, crouch, and lift up to 50lbs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • NCSO ticket.

Work Environment

The role involves working 10 days on and 4 days off with 10-hour shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm for out-of-town projects. When working locally, the schedule is Monday to Friday, with hours from 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, and until 3:30pm on Friday. Expect to work predominantly on out-of-town projects, with overtime paid after 9 hours per day and 44 hours per week. You will work with 4-7 other employees, with potential for larger teams depending on the project. The work is a mix of outdoor tasks and administrative duties in a trailer. Accommodations are provided in hotels with a daily per diem, transitioning to permanent accommodations as available.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
