Job summary

Seymour Pacific Developments is seeking an Estimator to prepare full-cost estimates for multi-family residential or commercial construction across Canada. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, you’ll analyze plans, perform takeoffs, and build cost estimates to support project budgeting and executive approvals.

You will work with the Senior Estimator to finalize estimates and manage them through project completion, ensuring adherence to standards and timely delivery for all bids and proposals.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in Construction Management, Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 2 years working experience in a construction estimating role.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Great attention to detail and ability to spot anomalies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and database systems.
• Knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of thorough, accurate, and timely estimates using ProContractor Estimating software.
• Analyze project plans and specifications to determine total estimated cost.
• Conduct material, labour and equipment takeoffs.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, and project duration.
• Build-up direct and indirect costs for major residential and commercial projects.
• Document and maintain accurate records of cost estimates and related documents.
• Create estimates and proposals for owner change orders, RFIs, and design changes.
• Prepare estimates of probable costs based on bids, drawings and specs.
• Examine tenders and provide direction on value engineering.
