Job summary

FHR Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced Construction Carpenter to join our on-site team in Sudbury, Ontario.

This full-time, permanent role involves building and installing wood structures for residential and commercial projects, interpreting blueprints, and coordinating with other trades to maintain schedules. Candidates should have experience with framing, finishing, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading blueprints and construction drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and plans to determine measurements, materials, and sequence of work.
  • Build and install wood structures for new construction and renovations.
  • Assemble walls, floors, roofs, and framing components.
  • Install trim, doors, windows, hardware, shelving, and cabinetry.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and fit building materials for accurate installation.
  • Repair or replace damaged components during renovations.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to keep projects on schedule.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely on-site.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure it meets specs and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work site and follow safety policies.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent


Salary: $27.00 per hour


About the Position

FHR Construction Ltd. is looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our growing construction team. We complete a variety of residential and commercial construction and renovation projects and are seeking a dependable individual who takes pride in quality workmanship, works well with others, and is committed to maintaining a safe work environment.


Responsibilities


  • Interpret blueprints and construction plans to determine measurements, material requirements, and the sequence of work for each project.

  • Build and install wood structures for new construction and renovation projects.

  • Assemble wall systems, floor systems, roof structures, and other framing components.

  • Install finishing materials such as trim, mouldings, doors, windows, hardware, shelving, and cabinetry as required.

  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble building materials to ensure accurate installation and a high-quality finished product.

  • Repair or replace damaged structural and finishing components during renovation and restoration work.

  • Work closely with supervisors and other trades to coordinate daily tasks and ensure projects remain on schedule.

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other construction equipment required to complete assigned work.

  • Verify measurements and inspect completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and quality standards.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site while complying with all company safety policies and applicable workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Assist with general construction activities and support other team members as needed to meet project deadlines.


Qualifications


  • Previous experience working as a Carpenter in residential and/or commercial construction.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.

  • Experience using a wide range of carpentry hand tools and power tools.

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Physically capable of lifting construction materials and performing demanding manual work.

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to workplace safety.

  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered an asset.


Working Conditions


  • Work is performed at various residential and commercial construction sites.

  • Regular lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working at heights may be required.

  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on project schedules.
