Lead Carpenter / Foreman
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Carpenter / Foreman to oversee and lead residential construction projects from start to finish. This hands‑on leadership role requires advanced carpentry skills, team management abilities, and a strong understanding of residential building practices. The successful candidate will ensure that jobs are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The position is Full‑Time.
Wage & Compensation
- Hourly Wage: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour (based on experience and certification level)
- Overtime Pay: As per BC Employment Standards
- Performance Reviews: Annual or bi‑annual wage review

Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and work alongside a crew of carpenters and labourers on residential job sites
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications accurately
- Perform and oversee all aspects of residential construction carpentry, including:
- Framing (floors, walls, roofs)
- Siding installation (vinyl, wood, Hardie, etc.)
- Concrete forming for foundations, slabs, and structural elements
- Coordinate site logistics and daily work schedules with supervisors
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies on‑site
- Inspect work to ensure quality control and compliance with building codes
- Provide mentorship and hands‑on training to junior crew members
- Monitor material usage and assist with ordering supplies when needed
- Keep accurate daily reports and communicate progress to site supervisor or project manager
- Troubleshoot problems and provide practical construction solutions in real‑time
Requirements
- Minimum 5–7 years of hands‑on carpentry experience in residential construction
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
- Proficient in framing, forming, siding, and finishing carpentry
- Strong understanding of the BC Building Code
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Physically fit and capable of working in all weather conditions
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Own basic hand tools and PPE
Preferred Certifications
- Red Seal Carpenter Certification (Preferred but not mandatory)
- Fall Protection Certification (Required)
- WHMIS Certification (Required)
- First Aid – Level 1 or higher (Preferred)
- Skid steer, telehandler, or aerial lift ticket (Asset)
