Job summary

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) in Edmonton is seeking a Construction and Maintenance Health and Safety Advisor (EG-06) to support safety programs across construction and maintenance activities.

The role requires a strong background in Occupational Health and Safety, experience applying federal and provincial regulations, and the ability to provide practical guidance to management, trades and workers.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent as noted in the job posting.

Intent of the process

Note 1:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

• Significant experience working in construction or maintenance safety.
• Significant experience applying, implementing or monitoring compliance with federal, provincial or territorial legislative Occupational Health and Safety requirements related to construction sites or maintenance activities.
• Significant experience providing advice to management, trades and workers regarding the interpretation and application of provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation such as Acts, Codes, Regulations, Standards and industry codes of practice.
• Significant experience in the development and the delivery of presentations, health and safety training programs or information sessions, both in person and virtually.

Significant experience will be evaluated in regard to the amount, complexity, and diversity of the work handled, and the level of autonomy demonstrated.
