Job Title: Concrete Foundation Foreman

Company: PCH Builders (Professional Custom Homes Ltd.)

Location: Calgary & Cochrane, AB (and surrounding areas)

Function: Construction / Execution

Reporting to: Site Supervisor

Direct Reports: 5-8 (Skilled Workers, Apprentices, and General Labourers)

The Company - PCH Builders

Backed by a highly capable, credentialed, and professional team, our family-owned company delivers Urban Development, Mountain Development, Property Management, and Civil Works across Alberta.

For more than 13 years, we have built over 400 homes across Calgary and surrounding areas, ranging from apartments to luxury detached residences. We also manage more than 300 rental homes, giving us a deep understanding of the needs of homeowners, residents, and investors alike.

Our 61 people team brings decades of hands-on construction experience, complemented by engineering, master's, and MBA credentials. Together, we combine technical expertise, disciplined execution, and a personal commitment to guide every project with confidence and deliver thoughtfully crafted spaces where families, communities, and investments grow.

Our company has experienced rapid growth in recent years, and to support this expansion, we’re looking for passionate individuals ready to grow with us as we continue to transform the Calgary and Bow Valley communities.

The Opportunity

Our company is on a trajectory to expand rapidly across Calgary, Cochrane, and the Bow Valley, bringing heightened project scope across our single-family, multi-family, and apartment building developments. To eliminate schedule bottlenecks, accelerate project delivery, and keep site momentum moving forward, PCH Builders is urgently seeking a driven, hands-on Concrete Foundation Foreman to lead site execution teams.

Reporting directly to the Site Supervisor, you will be the driving force on-site, directly managing a dedicated crew of 5-8 members (a balanced mix of paired skilled tradesmen, apprentices, and general labourers). Your primary focus will be optimizing our self-performed concrete foundation operations, eliminating cycle delays during footing, wall, and Suspended Main Floor Slabs (Two-Way Slabs) and seamlessly transitioning your crew into subsequent stages of construction as the builds progress.

We are seeking an energetic leader with the proven ability to drive work across multiple construction phases. You are a hands-on working foreman who leads from the front, maintains a high daily work tempo, operates site equipment proficiently, ensures top-tier quality control, and takes pride in building safe, efficient, and cohesive site crews.

Core Responsibilities
1. Crew Leadership & Daily Field Operations
  • Direct, motivate, and manage a dedicated crew of 5-8 workers on-site.
  • Plan and assign daily tasks by pairing skilled tradesmen with labourers to balance workloads, maximize output, and foster on-the-job training.
  • Maintain high crew morale, clear team communication, and strict operational accountability across all daily activities.
2. Concrete & Foundation Execution
  • Oversee and actively participate in all foundation stages: site layout, footing forming, foundation wall assembly, rebar tying, embed placement, and concrete pours.
  • Direct the setup, shoring, reshoring, and stripping of formwork systems, including Suspended Main Floor Slabs (Two-Way Slabs) and structural columns.
  • Verify all concrete placements meet site elevations, slump specifications, and structural integrity standards.
3. Equipment Operation & Site Logistics
  • Proficiently operate skid steers, concrete vibrators, power screeds, and hand/power tools for subgrade prep, gravel placement, rebar fabrication, and site cleanup.
  • Manage material inventory, request needed site supplies ahead of pours, and oversee daily equipment care and tool maintenance.
4. Seamless Construction Sequencing & Framing Transition
  • Drive uninterrupted project momentum by pivoting your crew smoothly from completed foundation forming directly into structural framing and rough carpentry.
  • Apply carpentry knowledge to build floor systems, wall framing, and subfloors without downtime between structural trade handoffs.
  • Demonstrate multi-trade flexibility, ensuring crew skills are continuously utilized across all build phases to maintain site continuity.
5. Site Administration, FLHAs & Production Tracking
  • Complete accurate daily shift logs, crew timecards, material delivery tickets, and man-hour tracking forms for project management.
  • Conduct daily FLHAs (Field Level Hazard Assessments), morning tailgate safety meetings, and site hazard inspections prior to starting work.
6. Blueprint Reading, Quality Control & Inspections
  • Read and interpret structural drawings, architectural blueprints, and engineering specifications with precision.
  • Perform rigorous quality assurance checks on form alignment, plumb lines, rebar cover, framing squareness, and layout tolerances prior to inspections.
  • Target a 95%+ first-pass rate on all municipal and engineering site inspections.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Field Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in residential or multi-family construction, with at least 2+ years in a lead hand, working foreman, or site lead role.
  • Ability to Work Across Multiple Stages of Construction: Demonstrated hands-on competence across diverse project phases—including concrete foundation operations (forming systems, 2-way suspended slabs, rebar placement) and subsequent structural, framing, and general construction stages.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Proven proficiency in operating skid steers, concrete vibrators, and power screeds safely on active construction sites.
  • Mandatory Safety Tickets: Valid Class 5 Driver's License, CSTS-20, WHMIS 2015, and Fall Protection certification.
  • Blueprint & Admin Skills: Strong proficiency in reading structural/architectural drawings, layout verification, daily site documentation, FLHAs, and crew man-hour tracking.
What is required
  • Work On-Site & Travel: 5 days a week on active project sites across Calgary, Cochrane, and surrounding Bow Valley regions.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary during peak structural pour cycles or time-critical project transitions.
  • Driver's license: Class 5 minimum required with access to reliable personal transportation to travel to various job sites.
  • Criminal background check: Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
  • Physical requirements: Physical fitness and stamina to regularly lift up to 50+ pounds, perform manual labour, stand for long periods, and work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
