Job summary

The YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador seeks a Comptroller to oversee and lead the organization's finance function. Reporting to the CFO, this role provides financial leadership and ensures accurate accounting operations across the organization.

The successful candidate will guide financial strategy, support operational decision-making, strengthen financial performance, and work closely with senior leaders in a values-driven, community-focused charity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting or equivalent in financial oversight.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Leadership experience and CPA designation are required or preferred.
• Strong technical accounting skills, including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Experience in non-profit organizations is an asset.

Jump Recruitment Specialists has partnered with the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador in their search for full-time permanent Comptroller. This position reports to the Association Services Office in St. John's.

JOIN THE TEAM:

We are seeking a Comptroller to oversee and lead the organization's finance function. Reporting to the CFO, this role provides financial leadership while maintaining accountability for the day-to-day execution of accounting operations. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner of leadership, helping guide the financial strategy, support operational decision-making, and strengthen financial performance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent experience specializing in financial oversight would be considered
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Leadership experience
• CPA designation
• Strong technical accounting capabilities (i.e., month-end accounting procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Sage 300 experience
• Previous experience in non-profit would be preferred
• Must be comfortable remaining actively involved in the details of the finance function including financial reporting, controls, payroll and team leadership
• Criminal Record Checks are reviewed on an individual basis
