Job summary

Crystal Claire Cosmetics Inc. is seeking a Compounding Manager to oversee all compounding activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to approved formulas, GMP requirements, and quality standards.

$80,000 to $100,000 per annum

The salary range reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final offer will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Overview:

The Compounding Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all compounding activities to ensure batches are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved formulas, procedures, GMP requirements, quality standards, and production schedules. The position leads and develops the compounding team, supports scale-up and technology transfer, monitors batch processes and equipment performance, coordinates with cross-functional departments, investigates production and quality issues, and drives continuous improvement in productivity, yield, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily compounding operations to meet production schedules, customer requirements, and quality standards.
  • Plan batch production based on priorities, materials, equipment capacity, and manpower.
  • Ensure batches follow approved formulas, procedures, and batch records.
  • Monitor compounding progress and resolve delays, process issues, and deviations.
  • Ensure proper equipment setup, operation, cleaning, and changeover.
2. Batch Process & Equipment Control
  • Review batch records, formulas, production instructions, and process parameters.
  • Ensure proper weighing, charging, mixing, heating, cooling, homogenization, and other compounding processes.
  • Monitor critical parameters including temperature, mixing speed/time, vacuum, pressure, and viscosity.
  • Ensure operators properly monitor and adjust equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, qualification, and installation with Engineering/Maintenance.
  • Support process validation and minimize equipment downtime.
3. Quality & GMP Compliance
  • Ensure operations comply with GMP, SOPs, work instructions, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Work with QA/QC to resolve deviations, non-conformances, OOS results, and other quality issues.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, batch records, and material traceability.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits and validation activities.
  • Lead, train, coach, and evaluate supervisors, technicians, and operators.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and qualified for assigned duties.
  • Assign manpower and responsibilities for each shift.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and policy compliance.
  • Promote safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
5. Material & Inventory Management
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Planning, to ensure material availability.
  • Ensure correct material identification, weighing, staging, usage, and lot traceability.
  • Control material usage, yield, waste, overage, rework, and losses.
  • Investigate material discrepancies and usage variances.
6. Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Ensure safe handling of chemicals, raw materials, hot products, pressurized equipment, and machinery.
  • Enforce PPE and workplace safety requirements.
  • Ensure employees receive required chemical and equipment safety training.
  • Investigate safety concerns/incidents and implement corrective actions.
7. Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
  • Improve productivity, batch cycle time, yield, quality, material usage, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization.
  • Analyze data and recurring issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead process improvement and standardization projects.
  • Work with Production, QA, QC, R&D, Engineering, Warehouse, and Planning to resolve issues and support production.
  • Support new product launches, scale-up, process transfers, and product/process changes.
Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a senior compounder, team leader or supervisor in a skin care, cosmetics or chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Material Science, or a closely related field, is essential.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with compounding processes specific to the cosmetics industry.
