Job summary

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Inc. is seeking a detail‑oriented sanitation technician to clean compounding suites and support the preparation of creams, ointments, gels and liquids in a GMP environment.

Responsibilities include completing GMP documentation, following safety rules, cleaning equipment, assisting with audits, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace while adhering to 5S and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma required.
• Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to receive coaching and training.
• High technical aptitude and detail orientation.
• Proficiency with MS Office; tablets and MES/SAP familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Clean compounding suites and assist in assembling/disassembling equipment (Mixers, Homogenizers, Pumps).
• Complete GMP documentation, batch records, cleansing and sanitizing logs, and housekeeping logs.
• Follow safety rules, report injuries, and maintain equipment safety procedures.
• Perform GMP-related weighing and calibration tasks; participate in audits.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and contribute to 5S and continuous improvement.
• Notify leads when supplies are low and assist with training records.

Job purpose

Responsible primarily for the cleaning of compounding suites, as part of the process of compounding pharmaceutical creams, ointments, gels and liquids.

Duties and responsibilities

• Complete G.M.P. documents, such as the Batch Record, cleaning & sanitizing logs, housekeeping logs and other documents / log records pertaining to manufacturing
• Follow safety rules/regulations and report any workplace injuries or accidents. Assist when required to improve equipment safety related procedures. Wash and sanitize compounding rooms
• Complete Magnehelic Gauge readings on a per shift basis
• Perform housekeeping duties which include accurate dilution of disinfectants, wearing of necessary PPEs and working safely while performing the tasks
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment. Participate and assist with continuous improvement projects in 5S
• Complete all GMP Documentation correctly and in a timely manner
• Complete all training assignments and maintain personal training records
• Ensure all raw material containers being transferred into compounding department are in a clean state. If not, clean as necessary.
• Perform wash up of Miscellaneous compounding equipment
• Learn proper techniques of assembling and disassembling of equipment including Mixers, Homogenizers, Pumps
• Learn the process of weighing of raw materials which include daily verification of scales and selection of correct scales for weighing purpose
• Participate in Internal, Customer and Regulatory Audits.
• Notify compounding lead hand and mechanic in a timely manner if equipment parts and compounding consumables are low in quantity
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)

Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day

Qualifications

• University degree / College diploma
• Must possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment
• Must be able to actively listen and receive coaching and applicable training
• High Technical Aptitude
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be comfortable with use of tablets and trainable on associated programs (MES, SAP)
• Good verbal communication skills for interacting with personnel on a daily basis
• Previous experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment would be an asset

Working conditions

• Overtime may be requested as per business requirement within compliance. This may be additional time during the work week and / or on weekends with last minute notice.
• Shift work required which may include weekends, complying with local labour laws.
• Use of G.M.P garments and Safety Equipment (PPE) as required

Physical requirements

• Physically fit, able to lift at least 25 kgs with some assistance
• Stand for long periods of time
• Bending and "squatting" throughout the work day

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $46,500 to $58,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; RRSP savings plan; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
