Job Overview

BWXT is seeking a Compensation Specialist to join our Cambridge, Ontario team. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing compensation programs, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting business objectives to attract and retain talent. It is ideal for a professional with technical expertise and strong relationship-building skills in a fast-paced environment.

Location: Cambridge, ON

Work Mode: Hybrid

Reporting Line

Reports to Sr. Manager, Compensation, with a dotted line to the HR Director, Commercial Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Job Evaluation & Job Architecture:
    • Manage the Canadian non-union job evaluation process focusing on consistency and transparency.
    • Conduct point-factor evaluations and benchmark roles internally and externally.
    • Guide managers and HR partners on methodology and job design.
    • Maintain job documentation and HRIS data integrity.
  2. Compensation Administration:
    • Lead annual merit reviews, salary planning, and incentive payouts.
    • Perform market pricing and equity analyses, including compression reviews.
    • Manage salary survey submissions and vendor relationships.
    • Recommend salary structure adjustments and budget allocations.
    • Ensure compliance with Pay Equity and relevant legislation.
  3. Strategic Support & Engagement:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR and business leaders.
    • Contribute insights for policy development and workforce planning.
    • Present data-driven reports on compensation trends.
  4. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
    • Identify opportunities to modernize compensation tools and reporting.
    • Stay current on industry trends and legislative changes.
    • Participate in cross-functional projects and HR initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in compensation or HR.
  • CHRL and/or CCP designation is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, job evaluation, and survey analysis.
  • Experience with point-factor systems and job architecture.
  • Understanding of Pay Equity legislation in Ontario and federally.
  • Excellent Excel and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and environments.

Compensation

The salary range in Ontario is expected to be between $74,000 and $116,000 annually, based on experience and market factors. Total compensation may include bonuses and benefits. Details will be provided upon offer.
