Job summary

Cogir Senior Living seeks a Server to work in our bright and welcoming dining room at a retirement residence. You will help with the set-up of the dining room and all aspects of serving and cleanup associated with dining services within our retirement residence.

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in the food service industry and working with seniors. You must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Preference given to those with food service experience and seniors experience.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for most of the shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Current VPS within 6 months or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• To serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• To set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• To assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery at the conclusion of each service.
• To assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required.
• To assist with catering and participate in special occasions and theme events.
• To assist in orientation and training of new culinary employees.
• To follow health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
• To comply with provincial regulations and department policies and procedures.
• To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and promote them.
• Attend in-service training to better serve residents.
• Attend staff meetings to stay informed on residence changes.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Uphold and promote the organization’s values and Code of Conduct.
• Complete all other tasks as assigned.
