Job summary

The Hamlets at Westsyde by Optima Living in Kamloops, BC is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the care team. Reporting to the Director of Care, you will provide high‑quality nursing care, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and assist with medication administration, assessments, and care planning.

You must hold a BC nursing license, CPR/First Aid, and be able to mentor Health Care Aides while maintaining resident dignity and safety in a home‑like environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved nursing program.
• Current license to practice from BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Experience in residential care or mental health is an asset.
• CPR and First Aid certification current.
• Ability to mentor Health Care Aides and other staff.
• Therapeutic approach to care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Participates in developing resident care plans under the Director of Care or designate.
• Implements changes to resident care plans as needed.
• Maintains accurate records of resident conditions and health care requirements.
• Assists with move ins/outs, palliative care, end of life and care after death with dignity.
• Provides direct nursing care including medications, treatments, and resident education.
• Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team, doctors, residents and families.
• Assists physician with examinations and tests when requested.
• Evaluates effectiveness of care and reports changes to care team.
• Directs and supports Health Care Aides in procedures ensuring high standard of care.
• Participates in orientation of new team members and monitors performance.
• Identifies and reports equipment issues and maintenance needs.
• Completes incident reports and attends team meetings and care conferences.
• Responds to emergencies per policy, contributes to quality improvement, and adheres to safety regulations.
