Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Health Care Aide to join the Wainwright Home Care team. This part-time (0.80 FTE) role supports patients in home and community settings under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, assisting with daily living, hygiene, mobility and safety needs.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, observe and report on patient wellbeing, and help maintain a safe environment. A mandatory HCA certificate or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide.
• Proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients in home, community, and health care facilities.
• Assist nurses with routine care to meet patients’ hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; observe and report on mood, health and wellbeing.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors; communicate effectively with patients and health care professionals.
