Job summary

Excel Society in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Home Care Aide to provide in-home care and support for clients in their own residences. You will follow care plans, assist with meals and personal care, and contribute to a safe, comfortable living environment.

The role requires an HCA certificate, CLHA registration, current First Aid/CPR, and a satisfactory criminal record check. You will document care activities and collaborate with families and care professionals.

Qualifications

• HCA certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta Health Services (CLHA directory) is mandated.
• Active registration and licensed with CLHA.
• Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C.
• Satisfactory current criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Follow client care plan and deliver high quality client care.
• Prepare meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan.
• Assist with medications using Catalyst system and verify deliveries per policy.
• Perform general household duties including cleaning, vacuuming and laundry; outdoor tasks as needed (snow shoveling, lawn care).
• Maintain/update required documentation such as scorecards and medical records.
• Assist clients with hygiene and personal care.
• Provide emotional support and use de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Support clients in attending appointments and activities.
• Monitor client wellbeing and report concerns to supervisor; accompany to appointments as necessary.
• Liaise with families, guardians and other professionals to share relevant information.
