Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Health Care Aide to join our care team. The HCA assists residents with daily activities under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, delivering safe and thorough basic care.

We value compassionate teamwork and ongoing training. Applicants should have PCA/HCA certificate, English fluency, and registration with CLHA; one year experience preferred. Competitive salary, benefits, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment is preferred.
• Post-secondary education an asset.
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
• Completion of a recognized Personal Care Aide (PCA/HCA 2002 or greater) Certificate Course or Equivalent Education Certificate.
• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using lifts and PPE.
• Feed/assist with meals and snacks.
• Refer to care plan for appropriate diet for each resident.
• Provide routine treatments under the direction of the Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel about the facility.
• Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
• Assist residents to walk with/without mechanical aids.
• Accompany residents to beauty parlor, physiotherapy, and recreation activities.
• Accompany residents to social and therapy functions
