Job summary

Muskoday First Nation is seeking a Community Support Worker (CSW) for a full-time term position. The CSW will work with our Family Well-Being and Community Addictions Teams, as well as Community Culture, Recreation, and Sports Teams, developing after-hours programming in the community.

The successful CSW will transport youth and families, align with Muskoday values and traditions, and coordinate referrals across departments to connect clients with local services.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of education, plus two+ years work experience in a relatable Human Services field.
  • Valid Class 5 licence and a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work evening/weekend shifts.
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Understanding of holistic healing and Indigenous health determinants, and Muskoday values.
  • Knowledge of Residential Schools and Intergenerational Trauma.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, assisting and supporting after-hours programming in the community.
  • Transport of youth, children, and families as needed.
  • Connect clients to services within the community and make necessary referrals.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and community members.

Muskoday First Nation is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and highly motivated individual(s) to fulfill a Full Time -Term position of the Community Support Worker (CSW) Role. The CSW will work closely with our Family Well-Being and Community Addictions Teams, as well Community Culture, Recreation, and Sports Teams. Developing, assisting and supporting after-hours programming in the community is the objective of this position, and may require transport of youth, children, and families. The successful CSW will be knowledgeable or willingness to learn Muskoday values and traditions. Positive teamwork and inter-department communication is crucial, as the CSW will be making necessary outside referrals, as well as connecting clients to services within the community. Establishing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with co-workers and community members is crucial. CSW?s promote healthy lifestyles and healthy child parenting, while also recognizing and reporting possible child abuse or neglect in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two or more years of education, plus two+ years work experience in a relatable Human Services field

  • General understanding of holistic healing and wellness, Social Determinants to Health for Indigenous Peoples, and the history and stories of Muskoday First Nation

SKILLS

  • Knowledge and respect of Indigenous laws and values
  • Screen children for risks/vulnerabilities and developing safety plans with people or families in crisis
  • Promote well-being to community
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Cree language
