Job summary

The City of Vancouver is seeking a Security Attendant I to join The Gathering Place Community Centre. The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming environment for the public and staff, performing access control, and responding to incidents with calm and professional handling.

Shift hours vary across the week, and the position starts December 2026 on an auxiliary/casual basis. A Police Record Check is required, with Crane on health and safety policies and procedures enrolled in the role.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or higher; First Aid Level I certification is an asset.
• Experience in community services or public safety is preferred.
• Ability to uphold safety policies and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances and manage access control.
• Respond to incidents with de-escalation and appropriate intervention.
• Provide first aid and overdose response support as needed.
• Document incidents and communicate with staff via logs and emails.
• Assist with front desk duties or clerical tasks as required.
• Maintain health and safety standards and participate in janitorial tasks if needed.
