Job summary

Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Group (OSEG) is seeking a Community Relations Assistant to help expand our community presence for the REDBLACKS and the 67’s. Reporting to the Manager, Community Relations, you will assist with athletes, mascots, and the cheer team at events while liaising with community partners to understand needs.

This part-time role offers on-site or hybrid work, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills – ability to build and foster relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage schedules and coordinate inbound requests in a timely manner.
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task and collaborate.
  • Bilingualism in English and French preferred.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • On-site event management for OSEG community events and initiatives.
  • Represent OSEG and act as a spokesperson for the organization at community events.
  • Handle athletes, mascots, and cheer squad at internal and third-party events; serve as a point of contact for community partners.
  • Provide administrative support, including appearance tracking and reporting systems.
  • Coordinate the mascot appearance calendar and bookings (internal and third-party).
  • Support the in-kind donation program by responding to requests and redeeming prize certificates.
  • Assist the Community Ticket Bank, including outreach and ticket distribution logistics.

Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Community Relations, the Community Relations Assistant will be responsible for supporting the community relations team in expanding the presence of the teams within the community and building awareness excitement and engagement for the REDBLACKS and the 67’s. The successful candidate will contribute to the enhancement of OSEG’s reputation by providing support in managing athletes and mascots and the cheer team at events, along with liaising with community partners to understand their needs.

This part-time role has an hourly rate of $20/hour. This is a replacement position and offers flexibility to work fully on-site or in a hybrid arrangement.

What you’ll do:
  • On-site event management for OSEG community events and initiatives.
  • Represent OSEG and act as a spokesperson for the organization at community events.
  • Act as a handler for players, mascots, and cheer squad at internal and third-party events, and a point of contact for community partners.
