Job summary

City of Vernon is seeking a part-time Recreation Technician to support community recreation programs, drop-in activities, sport leagues and special events. You will assist with setup, registrations, field and facility operations, and public interactions to ensure a high-quality experience.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Active Living, you will work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, contributing to the division's mission to enhance quality of life through recreation.

Qualifications

• Minimum one-year post-secondary certificate in Community Recreation, Human Kinetics, or related field.
• Class 5 Driver's License
• Minimum one-year demonstrated experience organizing or leading activities in Recreation or Sport
• Current First Aid with CPR Level C
• Combination of experience and education may be considered

Responsibilities

• Support the successful implementation of special events, activities, sports and leagues, camps and programs.
• Open and close facilities such as sports fields, gymnasiums, meeting rooms and other recreation facilities.
• Assist with setup/takedown and transportation of equipment for programs, activities, tournaments and special events.
• Deliver activities, leagues, tournaments and special events; record attendance, game stats, schedules, and social media updates.
• Assist with inventory tracking and maintenance of program and event supplies/equipment.
• Respond to public inquiries and provide quality customer service.
• Process registrations and drop-in admissions in PRMS.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Assist emergency services duties as needed
