Job summary

McMan Calgary & Area is seeking a Community Outreach Worker to engage directly with youth who are at risk of or involved in sexual exploitation, focusing on prevention, education, and case management support for youth and their families. Working alongside partnering agencies, you will help ensure a collaborative, client-centered approach to mitigating risk and building safety.

• Knowledge and experience working with high-risk youth populations.

• Working knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act and Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA).
• Experience facilitating group education and community awareness sessions.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating Inter-Agency Collaboration: Delivering individualized case management based on the unique needs and goals of each youth alongside partner agencies.
• Coordinating Safety & Crisis Planning: Facilitating safety planning meetings and developing proactive prevention plans for youth and their families.
• Providing Outreach & Community Support: Delivering direct support to a diverse group of youth and connecting them to relevant services, community resources, and cultural supports.
• Supporting Cultural & Natural Connections: Assisting youth in building and maintaining safe, meaningful connections to culture, community, Elders, and natural supports.
• Developing Education & Awareness Sessions: Identifying, creating, and facilitating education and awareness sessions on sexual exploitation prevention for youth and community partners.
• Maintaining Reporting & Documentation: Keeping accurate, up-to-date reporting, assessments, and file documentation in accordance with program standards.

The Role

In the role of Community Outreach Worker, you will engage directly with youth who are at risk of or involved in sexual exploitation, focusing on prevention, education, and case management support for youth and their families. Ideal Candidate

• Diploma or Degree in Human Services or related discipline
• Knowledge and experience working with high-risk youth populations, preferably in the areas of sexual exploitation and human trafficking
• Experience working alongside youth and families facing complex challenges
• Demonstrated ability to work within social service systems and navigate community resources
• Working knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act and Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA)
• Experience facilitating group education and community awareness sessions
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, occasional weekends, and on-call rotations

Role Requirements

• Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within 6 months)
• Child Intervention Record Check (dated within 6 months)
• Standard First Aid Certification (dated within 3 years)
• ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training certification
• Valid Driver’s license and $2M in third party liability insurance coverage
• Driver’s Abstract (dated within 6 months)

Salary Range:

$54,193.00 - $60,215.00 per year
