Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) seeks a full-time Community Navigator in the Health & Wellness Department located at 150 Henry Ave, Winnipeg, MB. The Navigator provides support, advocacy and navigation for Red River Métis Citizens in need.

Responsibilities include identifying community services, crisis planning, budget input, and liaison with agencies. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required; travel and a Manitoba Driver’s license are expected.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/Graduate Degree in Social or Health Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in community outreach, advocacy and navigation, etc.
  • Experience with program development, facilitation and case management.

  • Recognize potential crisis and develop strategies to address situations.
  • Provide input to professionals on client program plans.
  • Maintain liaison with agencies, professionals and the community.
  • Assist in identifying barriers to accessing resources and support navigation.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets and provide input to management.
  • Encourage and facilitate client participation in programs.

Salary Range: $53,826.00 To $64,271.00 Annually

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Community Navigator position within our Health & Wellness Departmentlocated at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. The Community Navigator provides support, advocacy, and community navigation for Red River Métis Citizens in need.

  • Identify social, medical, economic, recreational and educational services in the community that will meet clients’ needs;
  • Recognize potential crisis and emergency situations and accurately develop strategies to deal with such situations;
  • Provide input to other professionals with regard to the development of client program plans;
  • Maintain liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community;
  • Assist Red River Métis Citizens in identifying barriers to accessing resources and support them in overcoming these;
  • Assist in preparing various project budgets;
  • Provide input to management with regard to the development of the program and participates in program evaluations;
  • Encourage and facilitate the participation of individuals in the program.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate/Graduate Degree Social or Health Science, Social Work, Social Service, or relevant field, and/or equivalent experience and training may be considered;
  • Experience in community outreach work, community support, advocacy and community navigation, etc.;
  • Experience in program development and facilitation, reporting, and case management;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
