Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) seeks to fill a full-time Policy Analyst position within our Health & Wellness Department in Dauphin, MB. The role focuses on researching opportunities to increase Red River Métis participation in issues, programs, and decisions affecting their communities.

Responsibilities include conducting health policy analysis, cost forecasting, grant writing, and inter-jurisdictional negotiations, with travel required as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or a Bachelor’s degree with several years of experience in policy and program development.
  • Experience working in the public sector, preparing reports and budgets.
  • Experience implementing strategies for major projects, developing cost analysis and projections.
  • Experience conducting research and developing presentations.
  • Knowledge of broad range of social policy issues.
  • Knowledge of government administration, knowledge of government Ministers and portfolios.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset.
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Undertake research and analysis of a broad range of social and political issues in order to assist in identifying their implications as they relate to the negotiation process.
  • Conduct health research, analyze existing government health policy and programs.
  • Prepare proposals based on extensive research and analysis.
  • Provide cost- analysis and comparative financial information on policy and program services.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for presentation to the federal and provincial governments.
  • Prepare grant applications on various topics.
  • Work with communications specialists to prepare and implement a strategy communications plan.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with officials, leaders and the business community concerning the strategy.
  • Assist with negotiations and attend inter-jurisdictional meetings and technical working groups.

Salary Range: $57,525.00 To $70,812.00 Annually

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Policy Analyst position within our Health & Wellness Department located in Dauphin, MB. The Policy Analyst is responsible for researching opportunities and potential prospects that will increase the control and participation of Red River Métis people over the issues, programs, and decisions that affect their lives and to develop the capacity to identify their own interest and solutions for building healthy and sustainable communities.
