Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) in Winnipeg, MB seeks a full-time Project Coordinator in the Health and Wellness Department to support the development and delivery of chronic illness clinics, health education, and related services for Red River Métis Citizens.

You will work with a community nurse, coordinate advisory groups, collect and review data, and help implement health initiatives while upholding ethical research practices and MMF policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related Master’s coursework (e.g., Epidemiology, Community Development)
  • 1+ year of public health/public health promotion experience or equivalent practicum
  • Experience with quantitative/qualitative research methods and community-based research
  • Experience coordinating health research projects and working with advisory groups
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Job description

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fillone full-time Project Coordinatorposition within ourHealth and Wellness Departmentlocated at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB.The Project Coordinator will work with the community nurse to help lead the team in the development and delivery of various chronic illness clinics health education, and health promotion programing and other relevant services to Red River MétisCitizens throughout the MMF regions.

Job Duties/Competencies:
  • Ensure ethical research practices, including confidentiality and privacy of citizens;
  • Respond to citizen and stakeholder inquiries regarding clinical service development;
  • Organize and facilitate advisory group meetings as required;
  • Collaborate with the research team and advisory group on knowledge mobilization, evaluation plans, and clinical service policies and procedures;
  • Collect, review, and analyze survey, interview, and other MMF data related to clinical service delivery;
  • Monitor and report on current issues and priorities affecting clinical service delivery;
  • Assist with developing policy implementation options and planning strategies;
  • Participate in the design, analysis, development, and evaluation of health-related initiatives;
  • Participate in working groups and community discussions on assigned health issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate Nursing degree or related Master’s-level coursework (e.g., Epidemiology, Community Development, Community Nursing);
  • Minimum 1 year of recent, relevant experience in public health, primary health care, population health promotion, or community development; or completion of an undergraduate practicum in Public Health;
  • Experience with quantitative/qualitative and community-based research methods;
  • Experience coordinating health research projects;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is essential.
