Job summary

Simon Fraser University is seeking a Community Liaison for the School of Medicine in Surrey. The role builds and sustains partnerships with physicians, health authorities, and community groups to expand clinical learning sites and ensure readiness and accreditation alignment.

The ideal candidate manages timelines, engages diverse stakeholders, applies policy, and uses data to drive improvements while upholding culturally safe practices and Indigenous engagement across partnerships.

About the Role

The Community Liaison advances the School of Medicine's strategic goals by building and maintaining strong partnerships with physicians, Divisions of Family Practice, health authorities, and community organizations across the Fraser region. The role supports high-quality clinical learning by ensuring community learning sites are coordinated, operationally ready, and aligned with curricular and accreditation requirements. Through managing agreements, readiness assessments, site onboarding, and ongoing partner communication, the Community Liaison helps expand placement capacity, strengthen physician engagement, and improve learner experiences across diverse clinical settings. The role also supports the school's commitments to Truth and Reconciliation by embedding culturally safe and inclusive practices into partnership activities and clinical site processes. Upcoming work includes onboarding and supporting new clinical learning sites, implementing standardized readiness and quality guidelines, strengthening preceptor recruitment and retention strategies, improving CRM reporting and partnership metrics, and supporting cross-functional initiatives that enhance clinical training delivery and community collaboration.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, relationship-focused professional with experience in healthcare partnerships or clinical education. They excel in project management, coordinating multiple stakeholders, timelines, and operational priorities across diverse clinical sites. Strong communication and influencing skills enable them to build trust with physicians, partners, and internal teams. They apply policies and accreditation standards consistently, solve problems diplomatically, and use data to drive improvements. Proficiency with CRM tools and reporting is essential. A successful candidate demonstrates cultural humility and a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, fostering inclusive, culturally safe practices for Indigenous learners and communities.
