Job summary

The Salvation Army in Ottawa is seeking a part-time Kitchen Attendant to assist with meal prep and service. Under the cook's direction, you will help maintain clean, hygienic food prep areas and dining spaces, store food safely and follow food handling techniques to safeguard clients and staff.

Hours are Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. A high school diploma is preferred, with a cooking/meal prep certificate an asset; current Safe Food Handler certification and the ability to

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certificate in cooking/meal prep is an asset.
• Current Safe Food Handler certification required (City of Ottawa).
• Good organization and communication skills.
• Nonskid safety shoes required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing and serving meals as directed by the cook.
• Cleans the dining room, kitchen, prep area, storage room and related areas.
• Complete inventory of received goods and store items safely.
• Rinse and process dishes and utensils to ensure adequate supply.
• Removal of garbage and cleaning of bins.
• Any other duties as assigned within the job classification.
