Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda is seeking a part-time Community Services assistant to provide general support in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.

You will work with a team to support pre-planned program activities, including food bank operations, crafts, games, Bible-based devotions, and community outreach, while maintaining participant confidentiality and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Completion of some high school coursework is required.
• CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
• Driver's License is required (not an asset).
• Willingness to develop understanding and support for The Salvation Army's mission.

Job Description

Position Purpose summary: This position will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.

KEY Accountabilities

• The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.
• As directed, support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank, crafts, sports, games, music, homework stations, Bible-based devotions, community church, meetings etc.).
• Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
• Maintain strict confidentially of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
• Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The incumbent's work environment is typically in the food bank, soup kitchen and storage area. May be required to move/lift to 30 pounds.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
• Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
• Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.

This is for a temporary part time position.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.00 to $18.08 with a maximum of $21.69. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
