Job summary

Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo seeks a Recreation Coordinator in Fort Chipewyan to enable citizens and user groups to develop community programs, events, and facilities. You will engage with Indigenous and rural communities while guiding youth programs and special events.

Under supervision, you will manage multiple projects, coordinate with departments, and lead volunteers. The role requires strong communication, planning, and budget skills and offers growth within Indigenous & Rural

Qualifications

• Three years of related progressive experience in recreation programming and the planning and coordinating of events.
• Volunteer management and budget control experience are preferred assets.
• Submission of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
• A valid Class Five (5) Operator’s Licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, plan and deliver special events, programs, and projects.
• Facilitate workshops, provide technical advice and guidance, and assist not-for-profit agencies in achieving their plans and ongoing development.
• Develop and evaluate plans, reports, and strategies to meet community needs and optimize service levels.
• Plan and develop advertisement and promotional campaigns for programs and events.
• Research and access grants, canvas donations, gifts-in-kind, and corporate sponsorship for cost containment.
• Provide administrative functions including preparation of council reports, business planning, and budget preparation.
• Recruit, train, and lead volunteers.
• Develop methods to generate revenue from special events and programs.
