1-800-GOT-JUNK? is looking for a creative and strategic Communications Specialist to help shape and deliver effective communications supporting our brand transformation. Working mainly with the Innovation and Implementation teams, you will provide strategic guidance, develop impactful communication plans, and create engaging content across multiple channels. If you are a skilled communicator with an understanding of audiences and enjoy supporting cross-functional teams through change, this role is for you.

HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT

Team members in Vancouver and Toronto are required to work in-office every other week, for three consecutive days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Core hours of attendance are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on these days.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Provide strategic communication guidance to support the Innovation and Implementation teams in achieving the brand's transformation goals.
  • Develop comprehensive communication plans to promote awareness, adoption, and enthusiasm for new initiatives, engaging diverse audiences through various channels.
  • Create a range of content, including newsletters, presentations, FAQs, conversation guides, and event materials that align with the brand’s voice and strategic objectives.
  • Leverage understanding of Franchise Partner and employee mindsets to craft clear, resonant messaging for different audiences.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their communication objectives, provide tailored recommendations, and ensure alignment with overall brand messaging.
  • Use project management skills to organize, prioritize, and execute communication projects, ensuring timely delivery and coordination.
  • Seek feedback and insights to refine strategies, maintain relevance, and achieve impactful results.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to keep our communications approach fresh and effective.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a communications role, preferably with change or transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages for diverse audiences and formats.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading communication projects from start to finish.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans that increase awareness and adoption.
  • Proficiency in digital content tools such as Google Workspace, Canva, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Understanding of how to communicate effectively to support organizational change and behavior transformation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build stakeholder relationships.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach and commitment to continuous improvement.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary between $60,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
