About Us
Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board (DSB) is looking for a self-motivated & energetic individual to join our industry-leading organization which works towards the delivery of high-quality services and programs to the residents of Manitoulin-Sudbury districts. The DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services, Non-Urgent Patient Transportation, and Early Learning and Child Care Services.
The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as a Communication Officer/Executive Assistant within our Administration Department in Espanola, Ontario.
In this position, you will provide a broad range of administrative and technical support to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Management Team, and the Board of Directors. The Communications Officer / Executive Assistant provides support and communications of a confidential nature to the CAO and the members of the Board and will develop and ensure the success of an organizational strategic communications plan that communicates to employees, clients, the public, and regional partners.
The Communications Officer / Executive Assistant is responsible for developing internal and external communication strategies to enhance service development and delivery by creating, editing, and publishing media releases, newsletters, and other organizational communications. The role also involves organizing political and other events and responding to public inquiries. The Communications Officer / Executive Assistant will coordinate media relations and communicate with the public via the DSB’s website, social media, and other forms of communication. Working collaboratively with the CAO and leadership team to promote a positive client experience, the Communications Officer / Executive Assistant is responsible for responding to compliments, inquiries, and complaints.
Qualifications and Specific Skills:
Education: Completion of post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Education in Business would be considered an asset.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a communications/administration role, municipal experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms is required.
